Six Indonesian representatives fight in the Swiss Open quarter-finals

Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – Six Indonesian representatives will compete in the quarter-finals of the Swiss Open 2022 at St. Jakobshalle, Basel, Switzerland, Friday, to compete for tickets to the semifinals of the Super 300 level badminton tournament.

The men’s doubles sector leaves the most representatives. There are three surviving couples, namely Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto, Leo Rolly Carnando/Daniel Marthin, and Pramudya Kusumawardana/Yeremia Erich Yoche Yacob Rambitan.

Fajar/Rian, who are the fourth seeds, will open Indonesia’s fight tonight by facing the sixth seed from Malaysia, Ong Yew Sin/Teo Ee Yi.

So far, both pairs have the same strong record with both bagging two wins from their last four meetings.

Furthermore, Pramudya / Jeremiah will return to a difficult match in the quarter-finals later. The unseeded pair awaited fifth seed from Denmark Kim Astrup/Anders Skaarup Rasmussen.

Even though they are not seeded, Pramudya/Yeremia, the pair ranked 23rd in the world, have a good record when they beat Kim Astrup/Anders Rasmussen in the inaugural meeting of the two pairs at the 2021 Spain Masters, and they now both have one win.

Meanwhile, Leo/Daniel will face eight seeded Malaysian representatives Goh Sze Fei/Nur Izzuddin.

In addition to the three pairs, Indonesia also has two representatives from the men’s singles sector, namely Anthony Sinisuka Ginting and Jonatan Christie.

Anthony will play against Indian badminton player Samee Verma, while Jonathan is awaited by Toma Junior Popov from France.

The only Indonesian representatives in the mixed doubles number, Rehan Naufal Kusharjanto/Lisa Ayu Kusumawati will have their last eight duel against the fifth seed from France Thom Gicquel/Delphine Delrue.
