Palembang, The Indonesia Post – Governor of South Sumatra (Sumsel) H Herman Deru received the National Precise ETLE award from the Indonesian National Police (Polri), for his contribution in assisting the procurement of Electronic Traffic Law Enforcement (ETLE) infrastructure in the South Sumatra region.
The award was handed over directly by the National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo accompanied by the National Police Headquarters Inspector General Pol Firman Santyabudi to Governor H Herman Deru at the Wyndam Hotel Surabaya, Saturday (26/3) afternoon.
Governor Herman Deru said this award is a form of synergy between the South Sumatra Provincial Government and the South Sumatra Police Directorate of Traffic in reducing the number of traffic violations through the installation of ETLE monitoring cameras or electronic ticketing on a number of roads in South Sumatra.
According to Herman Deru, with the ETLE camera, people can be more disciplined in driving. Because they feel supervised, so that it has an impact on reducing the number of violations and cases of road accidents. Where in South Sumatra currently 14 ETLE cameras have been installed, and in the future the South Sumatra Provincial Government plans to re-install ELTE cameras in 17 cities/districts in South Sumatra in synergy with the Regional Police and Polres at the Regency/City level.
The South Sumatra Provincial Government has not only contributed to the installation of ETLE cameras. However, Herman Deru continued, the South Sumatra Provincial Government also through BAPENDA innovated through a program of installing hologram stickers as a sign of paying off motor vehicle taxes, which was the first time in Indonesia.
In addition to the Governor of South Sumatra Herman Deru, a number of other regional heads also received the same award including a number of BUMN and the Dirlantas Polda including the Dirlantas Polda Metro Jaya, Dirlantas Polda Sumsel, Dirlantas Polda Central Java, Dirlantas East Java and Dirlantas Polda Lampung.
