Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – The search for Emmeril Kahn Mumtadz, the eldest son of the Governor of West Java Ridwan Kamil who disappeared in the Aare River, Switzerland, continues even though his parents have returned to Indonesia.
Based on a written statement from the Indonesian Embassy in Bern, Friday, Ridwan Kamil and his wife and family returned to the country on Thursday afternoon (2/6) to carry out their duties as governor.
“Monitoring of search efforts, coordination with the Indonesian Embassy in Bern, and communication with Swiss authorities will continue to be carried out by Brother Eril’s uncle, namely Mr. Elpi Nazmuzaman and family representatives who arrived in Bern on Wednesday (1/6),” the statement said, referring to Emery’s nickname.
As of Wednesday evening, Eril’s parents were still walking along the banks of the Aare River to check potential places in the search for Eril to find several travel routes, both land and water, that could be safely reached.
However, these efforts have not yielded the expected results.
On Thursday, the search continued with ground patrols, boat patrols and drone flights.
On the eighth day of the search, divers could not be deployed due to the strong current of the Aare River. The focus of the search that day was in the Marzili area to the Engehalde floodgate, as well as patrols in the area between Schwellenmaetelli and Wohlensee.
“Intensive search efforts will continue tomorrow Friday (3/6) with additional support dogs,” said the Indonesian Embassy in Bern.
The Indonesian Embassy in Bern received news of the disappearance of Emmeril Kahn Mumtadz or Eril on the Aare River, Bern City, Switzerland, on May 26, 2022 at 11.24 local time.
According to the Swiss police explanation, Eril experienced an emergency situation while swimming in the river. Since receiving the missing persons report, the police have been working hard to find the 22-year-old. (mhn/bbs)
