In order to support the Indonesian government in realizing its net zero emission target by 2060, JJC formed the Carbon Neutral Task Force on April 11, 2022 as a form of contribution from Japanese companies in Indonesia, according to a statement from the Japanese Embassy in Jakarta, Wednesday.
In the midst of the growing global trend of decarbonization, interest in decarbonization is also increasing in Indonesia. In 2021, the Indonesian government has set a net zero emission target of 2060.
However, currently Indonesia’s energy supply still relies on fossil fuels such as coal.
In addition, achieving future economic growth and carbon neutrality has become a global issue, and Indonesia is no exception, where every Japanese company is trying to contribute by leveraging its technology and experience.
For this reason, in order to participate in accelerating energy transformation in Indonesia, JJC as a Japanese company representative has formed a carbon neutral task force which will be chaired by the Head of the JJC Corporate Department.
Within the task force, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) and other Japanese government agencies will act as secretariats, and with the support of the Japanese Embassy in Indonesia, JJC will carry out activities related to efforts towards emissions. zero carbon in Indonesia.
“In the future, by sharing information with fellow JJC member companies, we would like to encourage Japanese companies to take part in the decarbonization and energy transformation program, and will consult with the Indonesian government in order to contribute to the realization of decarbonization in Indonesia,” said the Japanese Embassy. in his statement.
