Taiwan allows eight crew members of the Jiang Ye ship to return to Indonesia

The Indonesian trade and economic office (IETO) in Taipei has received a letter from the Maritime and Port Bureau of the Taiwan Transportation and Communications Department authorizing the process of crew change for the eight 8 Indonesian citizens through ports in Taiwan, according to a statement from the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs received in Jakarta. , Tuesday.

So far, the Taiwanese authorities have closed their ports for crew replacement processes to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The eight Indonesian citizens were detained and had not been paid their salaries for six months at the Taiwan port.

Following up on the information, IETO Taipei immediately coordinated with the Ministry of Transportation and Communications of Taiwan to request permission to replace the crew.

IETO Taipei also encourages the responsibility of ship owners to pay the salaries of the eight crew members and immediately provide replacements.

As long as they are stuck on the ship, IETO continues to communicate to ensure that they are in good condition.

IETO also coordinates with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Manpower and BP2MI to take steps to repatriate and fulfill the labor rights of the crew and to hold the dispatching parties accountable. (ojn/bbs)
