This is a form of empathy and deep condolences for the tragedy that has claimed 131 lives.

The Indonesian government and the International Football Federation (FIFA) have confirmed that they will form a transformation team, following the incident at the Kanjuruhan Stadium, East Java.
This is one of the points in the letter from FIFA received by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) as a follow-up to a telephone conversation with FIFA President Gianni Infantino on 3 October 2022.
“FIFA together with the government will form a transformation team for Indonesian football and FIFA will have an office in Indonesia during these processes,” Jokowi said in an official statement, Saturday (8/10/2022).
Jokowi explained that collaborative steps would be taken between FIFA, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), and the Indonesian government. Here are the steps in question:
1. Establish stadium safety standards in all stadiums in Indonesia;
2. Formulate standard protocols and security procedures carried out by the police based on international security standards;
3. Conducting socialization and discussions with football clubs in Indonesia, including supporters’ representatives to get suggestions and input as well as joint commitments;
4. Set a match schedule that takes into account the potential risks that exist; as well as
5. Presenting assistance from experts in their fields. (mhn/bbs)
