Minister of Trade destroyed illegal alcoholic drinks worth IDR 7 billion

Timika, The Indonesia Post – Minister of Trade (Mendag) Zulkifli Hasan led the destruction of alcoholic drinks and goods resulting from post border control worth IDR 7 billion at the Makassar Business Orderly Supervision Center (BPTN), Makassar City, South Sulawesi, Monday.

The Minister of Trade said that trading alcoholic drinks without a permit would have a criminal social impact and illegal import practices would be detrimental to the country. Therefore, the government is committed to eradicating the practice of illegal sales of alcoholic beverages and illegal imports.

“Regarding this illegal import practice, according to orders from the President of the Republic of Indonesia, we must eradicate illegal imports because they are detrimental to the country. Illegal imports do not pay taxes and harm domestic industry. Therefore, it is the government’s concern to continue to carry out supervision,” said the Minister of Trade in a written statement. , in Timika, Papua, Monday.

The Minister of Trade said that the destruction was carried out as a follow-up to licensing violations that had been found in six types of products. The six types of products in question are alcoholic drinks of class A/B/C, bench scales, electronic scales, water pumps, water meters and teriyaki sauce.

According to the Minister of Trade, BPTN Makassar has carried out alcoholic beverage supervision for 35 alcoholic beverage companies. From the results of this supervision, it was found that 19 alcoholic beverage businesses had committed violations.

The violations committed were the failure to show the Certificate of Direct Seller of Alcoholic Beverages (SKPL) SKPL A and SKPL B/C, the failure to show the Warehouse Registration Certificate (TDG), and the Business Identification Number (NIB) which did not contain a list of business fields with KBLI 56301 (Bar).

Alcoholic beverage control destroyed more than 50 thousand bottles of alcoholic beverages worth IDR 6.5 billion.

Meanwhile, supervision and inspection of import trade systems, after passing through the customs area (post border), found five importers for five other types of products committing various types of violations, including not having a type permit, not having a Surveyor Report (LS), or not having a Goods Registration Number. (NPB).

The types of products destroyed were 565 units worth IDR 500 million.

The post border supervision violations found were the result of inspections and supervision in the period January-August 2023 in the BPTN Makassar work area.

Meanwhile, alcoholic drinks are the result of joint supervision in the period August 2023 carried out by BPTN Makassar with the South Sulawesi Provincial Industry and Trade Service, Makassar City Trade Service, Southern Sulawesi Customs and Excise Regional Office, the Indonesian National Army, and the Republic of Indonesia Police.

The Minister of Trade appealed to business actors to always be orderly in carrying out business in the trade sector. This appeal is mainly conveyed to business actors in business sectors that require special permits.

According to the Minister of Trade, the government is ready to facilitate licensing services and will help business actors with the various conveniences currently offered.

“This commitment is realized, among other things, through ease in obtaining permits, relief in the fiscal sector, shortening the time for the flow of goods, and guidance for business actors. We hope that business actors will always be lawful in their business activities,” he said again. (mhn/bbs)
