152.73 million Indonesians have received the full dose of the COVID-19 vaccine

Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – The Task Force for Handling COVID-19 reported that 152,729,588 (152.73 million) Indonesians had received the full dose of the COVID-19 vaccine as of Thursday at 12.00 WIB.

Based on data from the COVID-19 Handling Task Force received in Jakarta on Thursday, the total number of complete vaccinations was obtained after an increase of 324,397 people.

Furthermore, as many as 194,136,128 people have received the first dose, after the addition of 232,651 people.

The third dose as a booster also experienced an increase of 252,176 people, bringing the total number of residents who received the third dose to 15,474,618 people.

Government Spokesperson for Handling COVID-19 Wiku Adisasmito said the national vaccination rate was decreasing and had not shown an increase.

In fact, if you look at data from three major national hospitals in Indonesia, he revealed that the elderly population with comorbid diabetes mellitus, hypertension and kidney failure dominated the COVID-19 patients who died.

In order to protect vulnerable groups such as the elderly, comorbid sufferers and children, Wiku recommends all local governments to increase vaccination coverage in various dose categories.

If the availability of the COVID-19 vaccine starts to run low, the local government can immediately convey this to the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) so that it can help support the foundation of community immune defense through COVID-19 vaccination.

“We ask the local government to again increase the coverage of complete and booster doses of vaccination in their area. Don’t hesitate to continue to increase the booster vaccination coverage for stronger community protection,” he said. (mhn/bbs)
