Jokowi: Indonesia’s big change is in the trade balance surplus

Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – President Joko Widodo said that one of the major changes in Indonesia at this time was reflected in the trade balance surplus.

This was conveyed by President Jokowi at the opening of the workshop and the National Coordination Meeting for the Winning of the National Mandate Party / Partai Amanat Nasional (PAN) Election in Semarang, Central Java, Sunday, as monitored via live broadcasts on Youtube PAN TV, from Jakarta, Sunday.

“The last, big change, where is it? It can be seen in our trade balance,” said the President.

“Take a look. We’ve never had a surplus in terms of trade. It’s always a deficit, it’s always a minus. Let’s see in 2022, we will have a surplus of US$54 billion. If you convert it to IDR 831 trillion, who is the minister of trade? Who is the minister of trade? , answer? Mr. Zulkifli Hasan,” Jokowi said.

President Jokowi predicts that Indonesia’s trade balance surplus will be even bigger this year, if you look at the large surplus figure in 2022.

He said currently Indonesia’s trade balance with the United States was also a surplus of US$16.6 billion or Rp.253 trillion.

“Our goods that go to America are the same as those that go to Indonesia, more of our goods go to America,” said the President explaining the meaning of a trade balance surplus.

As for India, Indonesia had a surplus of US$14.1 billion or Rp.215 trillion, and with the European Union a surplus of US$9.8 billion or Rp.149 trillion.

“As long as we and China have always been in deficit, minus 17 billion US dollars. So big. Now our record, this is on our record, we and China are still at a minus, but only 1.7 billion US dollars remain. From 17 billion to 1.7. But the records in our Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs have a surplus of 6 billion (US dollars). Yes, that’s just a different note,” said President Jokowi. (mhn/bbs)
