Rabat, The Indonesia Post – Morocco on Saturday strongly condemned Israel’s actions against Palestinians at the Al Aqsa Mosque, saying the incident would “incite hatred and extremism and destroy any opportunity to continue the peace process in the region”.
In a statement, the Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs urged the United Nations and the world to immediately stop these actions.
In accordance with the instructions of the King of Morocco, the condemnation was directly addressed to the head of Israel’s liaison office in Rabat, the statement said.
Tensions between Israelis and Palestinians in the West Bank and East Jerusalem have escalated in the past three weeks as the Jewish Passover event coincides with the holy month of Ramadan.
Palestinian clashes with Israeli police at the Al Aqsa Mosque compound in Jerusalem on Friday left more than 160 people injured. (ojn/bbs)
