A total of 2,278 Indonesian companies are registered in China, the most in ASEAN

Beijing, The Indonesia Post – As many as 2,278 companies from Indonesia have been included in the list of foreign companies that have received approval from the Chinese Ministry of Customs (GACC) until April 14, 2022.

According to GACC data received in Beijing on Sunday, the number of Indonesian companies registered in China is the largest among ASEAN member countries.

The number of Indonesian companies exceeds those of Vietnam (2008), Thailand (1,631), Myanmar (1,052), and Malaysia (1,021).

“As predicted, the implementation of GACC Decree 248 will have a significant impact on us,” said Marina Novira Anggraini, Trade Attache at the Indonesian Embassy in Beijing, when asked for her comment on the data.

Under the provisions imposed by the Chinese authorities in 2021, known as GACC Decree 248, every foreign company is required to register production facilities, manufacturers, and storage facilities for products to be exported to China.

After obtaining approval from GACC, the foreign product will get an export label.

“The validity period of this registration is five years,” added Marina.

Thus, Indonesia experienced a trade surplus of US$2.92 billion (Rp41.95 trillion) that year, according to GACC data in early February.

The value of bilateral trade between Indonesia and China in the same period reached 124.34 billion US dollars (Rp 1.79 quadrillion) or an increase of 58.43 percent.

Some of Indonesia’s leading products that experienced an increase in the value of exports to China by more than 100 percent are mineral fuels, nickel derivative products, milling industry products, ceramic products, precious metals, processed vegetables, natural pearls, cultured pearls, and processed fish meat.

Exports from the food, coffee, tea, and spice industries to China increased by more than 60 percent.

Among ASEAN countries that are China’s trading partners, Indonesia ranks third. In 2019 and 2020, Indonesia was ranked fifth and fourth. (ojn/bbs)
