JAKARTA, TheIndonesiaPost – The government has finally postponed the increase in the price of fish food because it is still a pandemic of Coronavirus COVID-19. Indonesian fish feed business players who are members of the Association of Animal Food Entrepreneurs (GPMT) welcomed the decision.
This important decision was taken after a joint meeting between the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, the Ministry of Industry, the Ministry of Economy and the Ministry of Maritime Affairs, and the Association of Entrepreneurs, Animal Feed.
“In principle, the ladies and gentlemen (representatives of feed entrepreneurs) agreed to ask not to increase it,” said the Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Edhy Prabowo, as reported by the team of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries.
Edhy gave his appreciation and thanks to the fish and shrimp feed producers who did not supply the prices. According to Minister Edhy, based on information received, about 22 of 41 feed companies had obtained prices. Therefore, Minister Edhy requested that today’s meeting all feed prices be back to normal. In fact, the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries will take firm action if it is found to find businesses that increase feed prices.
“We will conduct surveillance in the field, if anything goes up we will investigate we will do the steps and procedures that we do,” he said.
Minister Edhy said, in addition to seeds, affordable feed prices are the principle for the cultivation sector. Therefore, in a pandemic, the participation of business actors is needed so that fish farmers are not constrained by the price of feed.
“We want to ask the ladies and gentlemen to agree on prices that are not raised. The state has provided fiscal and tax incentives,” he continued.
While Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita hopes that stakeholders in the cultivation sector, special entrepreneurs who have the same perception as the government. According to him, farmers must be supported by providing affordable feed.
“We are discussing that the aquaculture sector is increasing every year with a fairly good trend. This growth, of course, must be supported by the source of feed for aquaculture, the largest export of low-priced shrimp from the marine and fisheries sector,” Agus said.
Of the 41 companies invited, 40 fish supply companies attended the virtual meeting. Among them, PT Cargill Indonesia, Suri Tani Pemuka Group, Central Proteina Prima Group, PT Matahari Sakti, PT CJ Feed Group, PT Gold Coin Indonesia, PT Haida Agriculture Indonesia, PT Wonokoyo Jaya Group, PT Sabas Indonesia, PT Mabar Feed Indonesia, PT Citra Mandiri Kencana, PT Havindo Feed Optima, PT Evergreen Seafer Feed, PT Minister Nusantara, PT Sekar Golden Harvesta, and PT Sinta Prima Feedmill.
