Jakarta, TheIndonesiaPost – The success of officers who have secured foreign fishing vessels that steal fish or illegal fishing in Indonesian waters received appreciation from the Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Edhy Prabowo.

The appreciation was conveyed by Edhy during a working visit to West Kalimantan. To this day, according to him, there have been 66 illegal fishing vessels that have been captured by the CTF from all waters in Indonesia and this order will continue in the future. Edhy said during his work visit.

“This was a motivation for the officers who secured the Indonesian seas. This is also good news for people throughout Indonesia to jointly protect the sea of the Republic of Indonesia,” said Edhy Prabowo with a characteristic earthy smile.

As explained by Eddy Prabowo, the majority of ships that were arrested were carrying out illegal fishing, the majority of which were foreign flagged, namely 49 ships. The foreign ships are from Malaysia, the Philippines, Vietnam and there are also ships from Indonesia.

The success in eradicating illegal fishing, according to Eddy, cannot be separated from the support of many parties, ranging from the National Police, the TNI and the Sea and Coast Guard Unit (KPLP) from the Ministry of Transportation. (Ray/bbs)
