President Jokowi Won’t Hold Open House

Jakarta, TheIndonesiaPost – President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and government staff are said to be not going to hold an open house during Idulfitri 1441 H. This is an effort to prevent a large meeting that has the potential to become a coronavirus spread.

“The president and his staff will not hold an open house during Idulfitri later. There has never been a discussion in the meeting related to the open house plan,” said Presidential Spokesperson for Social Affairs, Angkie Yudistia, quoted from Cable News Network Indonesia, Friday (5/22).

Angkie said the President understood very well the momentum of Eid was often used by the community to have direct meetings with relatives and family. However, Jokowi still appealed to the whole community to hold back by staying at home during Eid.

Angkie said that the momentum of the Lebaran gathering could be done online.

“We can interact with each other online at the time of Eid later with relatives, relatives and friends without having to force ourselves to have a physical meeting,” he added.

In the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic as it is today, Angkie continued, the central government does not have plans in the near future to hold meetings in the form of physical meetings.

Of course this cannot be allowed to drag on along with the government which must be present in handling Covid-19

“Of course there are consequences from all of this to continue the activities ahead with a number of adaptations related to the rules on health and hygiene,” said Angkie (ras/bbs)
