Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – President Joko Widodo directs that preparations for handling the 2022 Eid homecoming must be extra after the Government allows people to travel home with the prerequisites for COVID-19 vaccination.
“This is what I can catch below, all of them want to go home, so extra preparations must be made,” said the President during the Plenary Cabinet Session at the State Palace, Jakarta, Tuesday (5/4), which was broadcast on the official YouTube channel of the Presidential Secretariat, Wednesday.
The Head of State reminded not to let the homecoming flow take place beyond the estimates, things that can be prepared and handled.
Therefore, the President asked the ranks of the Indonesian National Police, the TNI, the Ministry of Transportation, and the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment to continue to coordinate in preparing the handling of going home, both from the route, the potential for congestion, as well as anticipating the accumulation of vehicles at certain points.
“The National Police Chief, assisted by the TNI, the Minister of Transportation, and coordinated by the Coordinating Minister, have really prepared this, so they don’t make a mistake in preparing a good homecoming route that can minimize congestion and the build-up of going back and forth and backflows later. It must start to be calculated correctly,” said President Jokowi.
The previous president, on March 23, 2022, issued a statement inviting the public to travel for Lebaran homecoming with the prerequisite that they have received a booster dose of COVID-19 vaccination.
On a different occasion on Monday (4/4) Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin said that the prerequisites for COVID-19 vaccination for homecoming trips were taken as a form of government caution.
“The government is still being careful, we are still allowed to perform Ramadan worship and also go home. However, we must also complete the booster vaccination dose,” said the Minister of Health.
The Minister of Health also explained that people who have just received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccination will still have to attach the results of the PCR test which is valid 3 x 24 hours before traveling home.
Then those who have received the second dose only need to attach the results of the 1 x 24 hour antigen test or 3 x 24 hour PCR.
“Those who have had a complete booster vaccine do not need any tests,” he said. (mhn/bbs)
