Previously, the Minister of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia, Sri Mulyani Indrawati, said that President Joko Widodo asked that physical / infrastructure budgets be diverted to deal with the Coronavirus Covid-19 outbreak. The transfer is not only at the central government level but also applies to regional governments. Sri Mulyani gave an example, the President had instructed the budget preparation of infrastructure projects for the construction of a new capital city which was included in the budget of the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR), diverted to cope with the Covid-19 outbreak.

According to Sri Mulyani, the transfer of the budget of this prestigious project was solely to save the nation’s children by breaking the chains and the “war” against Covid-19. “It has been officially decided to do the shifting. The diversion of the articles of association of the new capital city project is solely for the most urgent needs in handling the Covid-19 pandemic,” Sri Mulyani said.

In addition to the basic infrastructure budget for the new capital project that is being transferred, the Minister of Finance continued, the Ministry of PUPR will also divert capital expenditure allocations for hospital preparation costs. The total capital expenditure budget reached a fantastic figure of Rp120 trillion. “Some of it has already been diverted. One of the projects is the Covid-19 special hospital on Galang Island, Riau Islands. According to the President’s instructions, the use of the 2020 State Budget is prioritized for handling the Coronavirus Covid-19 outbreak,” Sri Mulyani said

Similar was conveyed by the Spokesperson of the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Jodi Mahardi, that the use of the 2020 State Budget was a priority for handling the Coronavirus Covid-19 outbreak, and it was even possible that the Government would postpone the project of the new national capital until the situation returned conducive or normal without a pandemic.

“The use of state finances has been very well regulated by the Minister of Finance, including the matter of diversion of funds focused on handling the Covid-19 outbreak and its effects. That is the priority at the moment,” Jodi told reporters recently.

Despite an increase in the number of Covid-19 cases in the City of Prabumulih, project packages remain auctioned to raise questions. One of the Female Figure of the City of Prabumulih, Selvi Tosima, said that if the projects auctioned were urgent (very important/urgent), then the project was still favored. “The requirement is that the project is urgent, yes we understand. But remember, the development of Covid-19 is still growing, so we need more preparation,” Selvi said.

Moreover, she continued, Mayor Prabumulih Ridho Yahya should also coordinate with the Prabumulih City DPRD (house of representatives), because the use of the budget is also controlled by the council. “The principle must be coordination and the nature of the project is urgent. But if it is not urgent, I think it is better for us to prioritize the setting up of Covid-19,” Selvi said enthusiastically. (Asm / ras / bbs)
