Palembang, The Indonesia Post – South Sumatra Governor H. Herman Deru welcomed the Head of Statistics Indonesia (BPS), Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti, ST., M.Si., M.Eng., Ph.D., during a working visit to Griya Agung Palembang on Friday (Sept. 12).
In a cordial meeting, Governor Deru expressed his appreciation for Amalia’s visit to Bumi Sriwijaya. He emphasized that South Sumatra, with its 17 regencies and cities and diverse geographical conditions ranging from rice fields and plantations to mountains, requires accurate data to ensure well-targeted development policies.
“We always rely on BPS data as a compass for determining South Sumatra’s development policies. That is why we welcome input from BPS to continuously improve data quality. With accurate data, development targets such as poverty reduction, stunting prevention, and inflation control can be achieved more effectively,” the governor said.
He further expressed hope for more strategic insights from BPS to enhance the quality of regional development.
Meanwhile, BPS Chief Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti thanked the provincial government for its trust in using BPS data as the foundation for policymaking. She stressed that, in line with the President’s directives, BPS is now prioritizing data classification to serve as a key instrument in poverty alleviation and the formulation of more inclusive development policies.
Also present at the meeting were South Sumatra Assistant I Sunarto, BPS South Sumatra Head Wahyu Yulianto, Bappeda Chief Regina Ariyanti, Communications and Information Office Head Rika Efianti, Head of Public Relations and Protocol Tony Kurniawan, Acting Head of General Affairs and Equipment Darmayanti, and other provincial officials.
