Governor Herman Deru Presents NKV Certificates to Layer Chicken Farmers in Banyuasin

Palembang, The Indonesia Post – South Sumatra Governor Herman Deru handed over Veterinary Control Number (NKV) Certificates, Good Farming Practices (GFP) Certificates, as well as Antibiotic and Salmonella-Free Certifications to layer chicken farmers in Banyuasin Regency.

The handover ceremony took place at CV Agro Jovin Farm on Thursday (Sept. 11, 2025). The initiative aims to improve livestock quality and safety standards in South Sumatra while ensuring public health protection.

Governor Deru emphasized that certification is crucial to guarantee product quality and consumer confidence.

“The South Sumatra Provincial Government is committed to assisting farmers in obtaining these certifications, even through proactive outreach,” he said.

He further expressed hope that increased productivity among farmers could help address stunting issues in the province. He also encouraged farmer associations to set clear targets and work collectively to enhance the quality of eggs as an essential nutritional supplement.

Banyuasin Deputy Regent Neta Indian welcomed the program, noting that the regency produces around 400 tons of eggs per month, most of which are distributed across South Sumatra and even to West Java.

Meanwhile, South Sumatra Food Security and Livestock Agency Head Ruzuan Effendi added that Banyuasin is the province’s largest center for layer chicken farming. Currently, 17 out of 70 farmers in the area have already obtained NKV certification.

The government is targeting full certification for all Banyuasin farmers within the next month. The program is part of a broader strategy to elevate local livestock standards with the long-term goal of entering global markets. (mhn/ril)
