Airlangga: National Police support is needed during G20 implementation

Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto said that the support of the National Police was needed during the implementation of the G20 Presidency.

“Support from all ranks of the National Police is also needed to support the smooth running of the peak event which will be held in November in Bali,” Coordinating Minister Airlangga said at the 2020 National Police Leadership Meeting in Jakarta, Wednesday.

Airlangga said the benefits of the G20 Presidency need to be conveyed to the public that this moment has an impact on domestic consumption of Rp. 1.7 trillion, adding to GDP of Rp. 7.4 trillion, and direct employment of 33 thousand, as well as providing economic benefits that exceed the 2018 IMF World Bank event.

In addition, Airlangga also expressed his appreciation to the ranks of the National Police for assisting various national economic recovery programs, one of which is in the social protection sector through Cash Assistance for Street Vendors, Warung and Fishermen (BT-PKLWN). In 2021, almost 99 percent of the assistance has been distributed with the assistance of the TNI-Polri.

“I express my gratitude and appreciation to all ranks of the Indonesian National Police for overseeing economic policies as well as handling COVID-19, which I believe would be different if we did not get extraordinary support from the National Police Chief and his staff,” he said.

Airlangga further said that in 2022 the government estimates economic growth to reach 5.2 percent. The government has also prepared a transition roadmap from pandemic to endemic.

“In addition to being prepared regarding his pre-health condition, we are also preparing related to health services. However, we need to continue to encourage activities that will encourage economic growth because our momentum for higher growth is in 2022,” he said.

In relation to Indonesia’s economic transformation, the government continues to encourage the recovery of purchasing power and economic diversification by carrying out structural reforms that place Indonesia into an upper middle income country.

“The president will boost investment that will push us away from middle income countries and by 2045 we will be in the top 10 countries in the world. Even if Indonesia is on the right track, it will be included in the 5 countries with the largest economies in the world,” said Airlangga. (mhn/ojn/bbs)
