What does Anis mean by Emergency Brakes?

Jakarta, TheIndonesiaPost – The transitional large-scale social limitation (PSBB) is imposed by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government. In the first phase, the PSBB transition will be carried out throughout June 2020. With this policy, starting June 5, 2020, socio-economic activities will begin to run gradually.

DKI Governor Anies Baswedan reminded that the potential for co-19 transmission still exists. He reminded residents to remain compliant with the health protocol if they do not want Jakarta to re-implement tightening and all activities are again limited or called the Emergency Brake policy.

“If there is an alarming level of transmission, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government can stop all activities and re-implement tightening,” Anies said at a press conference at City Hall, Thursday, June 4, 2020, as quoted by one online media.

The former Minister of Education and Culture reminded that currently there are still 66 hamlets entering the red zone. “There are still 66 hamlets that are prone to the transmission of COVID-19,” he said.

Therefore, even though there is an easing of activity permits, Anies stressed, sanctions for violators of health protocols still exist.

“All sanctions against PSBB violations will continue to apply. Violations of the obligation to use masks will also be dealt with. Now we are entering the transition phase, we should not go back to the time before this. Stay disciplined in implementing health protocols,” said Anies.

It is known that the transition PSBB was designed in two phases: Phase I and Phase II. Each phase is valid for one month and can be extended according to the results of the monitoring of COVID-19 outbreak control conditions. (jekk/bbs)
