Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – President Joko Widodo said that with the inauguration of the Bogor-Ciawi-Sukabumi (Bocimi) Toll Road Section II Cigombong – Cibadak, it can cut the journey from Jakarta – Sukabumi, West Java, to just 2.5 hours.
“Thank God, the Cigombong-Cibadak toll road will speed up travel from Jakarta to Sukabumi. Usually 5 hours to 2.5 or 2 hours,” President Jokowi said after inaugurating the Cigombong-Cibadak toll road at the Parungkuda toll gate, Sukabumi, West Java, Friday.
During the event, President Jokowi was accompanied by Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono, Minister of BUMN Erick Thohir, Governor of West Java Ridwan Kamil, and other relevant officials.
“In fact, before that (travels) took up to 6 hours, 9 hours, 8 hours because there was a traffic jam at the market, workers leaving the factory were jammed. I experienced it myself once, almost 6 hours,” said the President.
With the inauguration of the toll road section, traffic jams can be avoided.
“This means that people’s mobility of goods will be faster with this toll road, and if you want to go to Pelabuhan Ratu to Ciletuh Geopark, to Ujung Genteng everything will be open because it’s faster,” added the President.
President Jokowi also called the opening of the toll road section a gift for the anniversary of independence.
“Yes, this is a gift for the 78th anniversary of independence for West Java Province, especially for Sukabumi,” said the President.
The President also ordered the completion of Section III and Section IV of the Bocimi Toll Road to be pushed as soon as possible.
The Bogor – Ciawi – Sukabumi Toll Road has 4 sections with a total length of 54 km with the progress of Section 1 Ciawi – Cigombong along 15.35 km which has been in operation since December 2018. Then the other two sections, namely Section 3 of the Cibadak – West Sukabumi section of 13.70 km and Section 4 of the West Sukabumi – East Sukabumi section of 13.05 km are in the progress of land acquisition.
Section 2 Cigombong-Cibadak has been operational since the Lebaran homecoming period April 15 2023 to May 1 2023 and recorded an increase in average daily traffic (LHR) of 66.20 percent compared to the homecoming period in 2022, namely with an average of around 38,716 vehicles traveling crossed.
This toll road is expected to be an alternative link to tourism areas around the Lido, Sukabumi, Pelabuhan Ratu, Ujung Genteng, and Ciletuh Geopark areas.
The presence of this toll road will also further facilitate the connectivity of the people’s economy both from the industrial, goods and service sectors because it will be connected to the southern part of West Java, such as Bogor and Ciawi. (mhn/bbs)
