Tangga Buntung Fire Victims Receive 6 Month Rental Assistance from Governor Herman Deru

PALEMBANG, The Indonesia Post – South Sumatra Governor H Herman Deru directly inspected the location of the fire in the densely populated Jalan Ki Gede Ing Suro Lorong Serengam I Kelurahan 32 Kecamatan Ilir Barat II Palembang, Saturday (8/8) morning.

In addition to conducting a review, Herman Deru, who was then accompanied by the Chairman of PMI South Sumatra Hj Febrita Lustia Herman Deru, also expressed his concern for the victims as well as providing encouragement and assistance.

Where assistance in the form of basic food packages, medicines, clothes, and school supplies for children was given directly by Herman Deru.

According to Herman Deru, his arrival was a form of concern for fellow humans and a sense of responsibility as a regional head.

“When there are people who are hit by a disaster like this, we as a government must provide comfort, especially inner comfort. What must be remembered is that we must be patient in facing this ordeal. Our gratitude to God should never be lost,” said HD.

He said the assistance currently being provided was an initial emergency aid.

“We want everything that is emergency in nature to be resolved first. Including food, medicine, clothes and school supplies. Children’s education should not be hampered, that’s why we provide school supplies,” he said.

Meanwhile, for the rebuilding of homes for victims who were affected by the fire, HD said that they would still wait for the program to be given by the Palembang City Government.

However, while waiting for a program from the City Government, HD provided assistance for the cost of renting a house for 6 months for 27 heads of families who were affected by the fire, totaling IDR 81 million.

It is known, each head of the family will be given house rental assistance of Rp. 500 thousand per month, according to what residents told Herman Deru.

“So each KK is given assistance of Rp. 500 thousand per month for 6 months, while waiting for the Palembang City Government program. Later we will also help to rearrange this place and avoid not letting this happen again in the future,” he explained.

Not only that, he will also ask for reports from the urban village regarding the work of the affected victims.

“We also ask for data on victims to improve their economy. If they are MSMEs, what kind of business are they running. We will help make it sufficient for their businesses to come back to life, including their capital,” he explained.

Meanwhile, Lurah 32 Ilir Andes Suryajaya expressed his gratitude for the assistance provided by the Governor of South Sumatra H Herman Deru.

“We, on behalf of the residents, express our gratitude for the governor’s attention. We are grateful that the governor still has time to attend in the midst of his busy life,” said Andes.

According to Andes, at least three neighborhoods were affected by this fire accident. Among them are RT 09, RT 10 and RT 37.

“There are 8 houses which were burnt down and the rest were partially affected,” he concluded. (ojn/rel)
