Firli Bahuri: Nahdlatul Ulama Plays an Active Role in Anti-Corruption Education

Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Firli Bahuri stated that Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) played an active role in anti-corruption education that was instilled from an early age in schools, Islamic boarding schools to college.

“It is also sown to the heart in every shady lecture or religious event by the clerics so that the seeds of anti-corruption grow and develop in line with the development of democracy on earth,” Firli said in his statement in Jakarta, Sunday commemorating the birthday (Harlah). -95 NU.

According to him, as the largest socio-religious organization in Indonesia and the world, various social and educational activities that have been carried out by NU have contributed to the realization of the country’s goals, including advancing public welfare and educating the nation’s life.

“The role and contribution of NU is the leader of the state which is actually a manifestation of the ideals of establishing this republic to protect the entire nation and the spilled blood of Indonesia can be achieved and felt by the whole nation and spilled Indonesian blood, from Sabang to Merauke from Miangas to Rote Island,” he said.

Furthermore, he said, NU was always present and standing at the forefront of facing and overcoming various national problems such as the problem of corruption in Indonesia.

“Virtuous character, honesty, simplicity, and upholding integrity as a creature who always nurtures religious values, the divinity within the frame of diversity is the character of a Nahdliyin,” said Firli.

Since its inception, he said, the KPK has also been filled with Nahdliyin characters.

“The character of Nahdliyin is what animates the KPK so that it remains steadfast in a million obstacles, is calm in the midst of praise and scorn because every task is not just an obligation but we view it as worship, our provision in the hereafter,” he said.

He said the sincere work of all KPK personnel and all national exponents had increased the confidence index in the KPK to 85.5 percent. This figure puts the KPK in third place in the list of institutions most trusted by the public based on a survey of coffee shops under the TNI and the President of the Republic of Indonesia.

“It can be concluded that every member of the KPK and elements of the nation who took part in the big war against corruption in Indonesia is actually a natural Nahdliyin,” said Firli. (icn/bbs)
