Palembang, The Indonesia post – Governor of South Sumatra H. Herman Deru represented by Provincial Secretary. South Sumatra, H. Akhmad Najib officially opened the 2021 Governor’s Cup Regional Table Tennis Championships held at Pitstop Xiom Table Tennis Palembang.
“Actually, the Governor wants to be present in person, but his busy agenda requires me to represent him at the opening of this Kejurda,” he said.
He also said that this was a positive activity in the midst of the current Covid-19 pandemic. “This is a manifestation that exercise in the midst of a pandemic is a solution in keeping the body’s immune in shape and avoiding Covid-19,” he said.
In addition, he also expressed his hope that the Kejurda can be held every year and run well and smoothly so that it can achieve the goal of this organization in producing talented young athletes who can become representatives of South Sumatra in competing in national and international championships.
Meanwhile, the General Chairperson of PTMSI South Sumatra, H. MA. Gantada, MH said that this competition was fully sponsored by the South Sumatra Provincial Government which presented a total of 159 participants from the Regency/City of South Sumatra which consisted of 5 competition categories including U12 (Men & Women), U15 (Men & Women), U18 (Men & Girls & Women), U25 (Men & Women) and Doubles U – 1990 and above.
“Apart from carrying out the 5 competition categories. We will also hold an Executive Competition on Sunday, we will also invite regional heads who have a hobby of table tennis to compete in the Executive Category,” he said. (ojn/ril)
