Palembang, The Indonesia Post – Even though it was a holiday, Sunday (5/9), the Governor of South Sumatra H Herman Deru continued to work by directly observing the Bumi Sriwijaya Stadium, one of the training fields to support the Fifa World Cup U-20 grand event in 2023.
In this review, Governor Herman Deru was accompanied by the General Chair of the South Sumatra Province KONI H Hendri Zainuddin, Member of the South Sumatra DPRD, Muhammad Yaser, Head of the South Sumatra Youth and Sports Service, Akhmad Yusuf, Head of the South Sumatra Province Housing and Settlement Area Office, Ir. Basyaruddin Akhmad and the related Heads of the South Sumatra Province OPD.
On this occasion Herman Deru saw firsthand how the preparations started from grass to other facilities and infrastructure, because in January FIFA will come to South Sumatra.
“So we have the main field, namely Gelora Sriwijaya Jakabaring and three supporters, including the Bumi Sriwijaya Stadium for World Cup readiness in 2023, because FIFA will come this January,” he said.
Herman Deru hopes that in welcoming the U-20 World Cup, what matters is the public’s interest because infrastructure readiness is not enough.
“I ask for support because the readiness of this infrastructure is not enough without high public interest,” he explained. (rmt/ril)
