Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – The Indonesian government on Friday again received 3,499,470 doses of vaccine as Pfizer donations from the United States Government.
Director General of Information and Public Communication of the Ministry of Communication and Informatics Usman Kansong said the arrival of the COVID-19 vaccine in early March was to meet domestic needs.
“We have received almost 3.5 million doses of Pfizer vaccine from the United States Government, which arrived through two stages of arrival,” said Usman in a press release, Friday.
A total of 2,300,220 doses of vaccine landed on Friday at 02.00 WIB, which is the arrival of the 204th stage of the vaccine. Then 1,199,250 doses arrived at 15.45 WIB at Soekarno Hatta Airport, Tangerang, Banten, as the arrival of the vaccine phase 205.
The Indonesian government really appreciates the support of the United States Government for the availability of vaccine stocks in the country.
“For this arrival, we thank the United States Government, which has and continues to support efforts to handle the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia,” said Usman.
He said that having sufficient stock of vaccines is very important amid the implementation of the booster vaccine program that is being intensified by the government.
The booster vaccine, said Usman, is very important to increase self-protection, especially in the midst of the increasing number of Omicron cases recently.
Meanwhile, for residents who have not received the COVID-19 vaccination at all, the government requests that they get it as soon as possible, because the vaccine has been proven to be effective in reducing the risk of death and illness due to contracting the virus.
On that occasion, Usman again highlighted the increasing number of positive cases of COVID-19, especially the Omicron variant, as well as the emergence of a number of health protocol violations, especially with regard to crowds.
Therefore, Usman again invites the public to maintain discipline in health protocols starting with themselves.
“It is necessary to continue to maintain the discipline of health procedures, especially if you are forced to do mobility outside the home,” he said.
As for those who have met the requirements to get a booster vaccine, they must immediately register at the nearest health facility.
“We start all of these efforts with ourselves. Then we can also remind the people around us so that collective health protection is more optimal,” he concluded. (mhn/bbs)
