Palembang, The Indonesia Post – The booster vaccination or the third vaccine has started to be implemented in South Sumatra (Sumsel). There are 11 districts and cities that have fulfilled the requirements to carry out booster vaccinations aged 18 years and over.
Dozens of areas that can carry out booster vaccinations include OKU, OKI, Lahat, Musi Rawas, South OKU, Banyuasin, Ogan Ilir, Empat Lawang, Muratara, Prabumulih, and Pagaralam.
The chairman of the South Sumatra Legislative Council (DPRD), RA Anita Noeringhati, admitted that the South Sumatra DPRD had not yet received a circular regarding the booster vaccination in South Sumatra, only that her party had only read from January 12 that the booster was intended for the public.
“I think we need to catch it and we welcome it because after all we can prove it, Alhamdulillah, the vaccine in South Sumatra has reached more than 80 percent, by the end of 2021 so that we are immune, God willing, we can achieve Herd Immunity. face any virus,” she said when met at the South Sumatra DPRD, Wednesday (12/1).
For the booster vaccine, this Golkar party politician hopes that as in the early days of vaccination, there are priorities, especially officers who always deal with the public, such as the media, members of the DPRD.
“It’s like when we were vaccinated early, because that way we can prioritize priorities, including the elderly,” she said.
Anita saw that this booster had a very strong impact, so it needed a good initial inspection.
As for vaccinations for children, according to him, it is starting from the age of 6 to 12 years.
“Only I also advise all schools, before children are vaccinated, there must be a doctor to check the condition of the children, do not let children who are not ready to be vaccinated have a negative impact, so that later it will make understanding that the vaccine brings negative impact, even though while the vaccine is indeed very extraordinary, we need it,” she said.
The Head of Disease Prevention and Control at the South Sumatra Provincial Health Office, Ferry Yanuar, said that the booster vaccination had a condition, namely that the overall vaccination achievement was at least 70 percent and for the elderly a minimum of 60 percent for the first dose.
“In South Sumatra, there are 11 regencies and cities that have met these requirements. So these 11 regions have been able to carry out booster vaccinations for the general public aged 18 years and over. However, for the elderly, all districts and cities may carry out booster vaccinations,” he said, Wednesday (12/1).
According to Ferry, there are no special requirements for elderly boosters. So that 17 districts and cities in South Sumatra have been allowed to carry out booster vaccinations for the elderly.
“We haven’t received a report on how many have been vaccinated with the booster, because it is the district and city administration. This booster vaccination can only be done at government-owned health facilities,” he said.
Ferry explained, the types of vaccines that can be used are Sinovac, Pfizer, AstraZeneca, and Moderna. The vaccine dose used is only half of the usual dose used for doses one and two.
“The type of vaccine used for the booster is still waiting for the technical guidelines, for example if the Sinovac vaccine can be with Sinovac or it can be with other types of vaccines. It’s still waiting for the technical guidelines,” he said.
To be able to get a booster vaccine, said Ferry, the conditions are that you have received two doses of the vaccine, at least six months ago, are 18 years old and over, and bring your identity. It’s also better to bring a vaccine card beforehand.
“For this booster vaccination, there can also be two schemes, namely from the government which is free or it can be from business entities that apply for a fee. It was like the mutual cooperation vaccine at that time, but the tariffs will be further informed,” he said. (mhn/bbs/ril)
