South Sumatra Legislative Council Asks for Explanation from the State Electricity Company Regarding Power Outage on July 4, 2022

Palembang, The Indonesia Post – The simultaneous outage that hit Palembang and its surroundings as well as in several districts and cities in South Sumatra (Sumsel) on July 4, 2022 which resulted in around 2.5 million customers spread across Bengkulu, Jambi and South Sumatra experiencing power outages received serious attention from members of the Legislative Council (DPRD) of South Sumatra constituency (Dapil) I Palembang.

Members of the South Sumatra DPRD led by the Chairperson of the DPRD RA Anita Noeringhati, Wednesday (13/7) visited the State Electricity Company (PT PLN) office for the South Sumatra, Jambi and Bengkulu Regional Main Unit (UIW S2JB) at the State Owned Enterprises (BUMN) office on Jalan Captain A Rivai.

The arrival of South Sumatran representatives Anita Noeringhati from the Golkar Party, Prima Salam from Gerindra, Kartak SAS from the PKB, Mgs Syaiful Padli from the PKS, Dedi Siprianto from the PDI-P and Chairul S Matdiah from the Democratic Party for the second phase of the recess.

“We came to PLN to question the power outage on July 4 and it was explained that it was a natural factor. We remind PLN of planned blackouts not to be carried out often in the South Sumatra area, which is on,” said Anita.

In addition, members of the South Sumatra DPRD also conveyed the aspirations of the people of South Sumatra regarding the increase in the basic electricity tariff (TDL) which was burdensome to the community.

“The new pandemic will end and the people’s economy will start to slowly rise but the TDL has increased, the term PLN is adjusted every three months, which actually increases more than decreases,” said a DPRD member from the Golkar Party faction.

The DPRD members were received at the PT PLN Regional Parent Unit S2JB office. Daily Executor of S2JB General Manager Adhi Herlambang, Senior Manager Commerce & Customer Management Dian Herizal, SRM Planning, SRM Finance, Communications and General Affairs.

The management of PT PLN also conveyed that their concern for the concern for electricity companies through CSR programs to the community was still very lacking.

“Earlier, it was stated that there was a loss, it turned out that when we searched for information through Google, it turned out that PLN as a whole made a profit of Rp. However, his concern for South Sumatra, Bengkulu and Jambi was only allocated Rp3.7 billion. This is very inappropriate, large state-owned companies that must have concern according to the CSR law are five percent of profits, “said Anita.

The Acting General Manager of PT PLN UIW S2JB appreciated the visit of the South Sumatra DPRD members and said that PLN continues to maintain electricity supply to the community, there are certain conditions that must be extinguished because they must be maintained because otherwise it will endanger the people around them.

Regarding the losses suffered by PLN, it was also explained that there were losses and the amount could not be ascertained in value. Also regarding the increase in TDL, it was explained that PT PLN was only carrying out government duties. The increase in TDL is related to the dollar exchange rate, inflation and the price of coal raw materials. TDL tariff adjustment means that it can go up or down and TDL goes down. (ojn/bbs)
