President Erdogan: Indonesia has successfully carried out the G20 leadership

Bali, The Indonesia Post – Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated that Indonesia was successful in carrying out the leadership at the G20 event this year amidst various global challenges.

“The G20 platform has successfully played a leadership role in the midst of challenges at the current global level,” Erdogan said at a press conference at the Bali International Convention Center (BICC), Nusa Dua, Bali, Wednesday.

Erdogan said Indonesia’s G20 Presidency with the theme “Recover Together, Recover Stronger” has been reflected in various G20 meetings, both at the ministerial level and other technical activities throughout this year.

He admitted that Turkey had actively participated and contributed to conveying its views in various G20 meetings during Indonesia’s presidency.

Not only that, Erdogan said at the G20 Summit (Summit) that his party was also evaluating the latest developments related to the outlook or projections of the economy and the quality of the world in the future.

According to him, the evaluation was carried out because the world has embarked on a difficult three-year journey since the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic and is increasingly under pressure due to geopolitical tensions.

Even the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and geopolitical tensions is still being felt today, namely the tightening of international trade to the point of causing supply chain disruption, the Turkish president said.

According to Erdoan, very high food and energy prices have plunged almost the entire world economy into a recession, the risks of which continue to increase, indicating the possibility of great challenges await in the future.

The Turkish president also mentioned that the inflation rate which has reached its peak in a number of countries in the world, including the United States (US) and Europe, further shows the magnitude of the problems the world is facing.

“No country has managed to escape this inflationary trend. This crisis is not only in the region but involves all countries. However, it is the vulnerable countries in Africa and Asia that are most affected,” Erdogan said.

However, Erdogan is optimistic that all global challenges, be it the food crisis, health, recession risk, high inflation, will be able to be overcome through a solution-oriented approach to the G20.

“I believe we can face today’s economic challenges with determination and solution-oriented G20,” he said. (mhn/bbs)
