Prevent COVID-19, the President officially prohibits going home

JAKARTA, TheIndonesiaPost – To prevent the mobility of residents in one region to another which can increase the risk of the spread of COVID-19, the Central Government officially stipulates a ban on going home for all people.

President Joko Widodo said that when leading a limited meeting that discussed the matter of the follow-up discussion on the anticipation of going home by teleconference from the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Tuesday (4/21/2020).

“After the ban on going home for civil servants, the Army and Police, and employees of State-Owned Enterprises we have done in the past weeks, at today’s meeting I would like to say that we will ban everyone going home,” President Jokowi said, as reported by the team presidency.

Prohibition of going home or traveling outside the area for civil servants, the Army, and Police, as well as employees of State-Owned Enterprises and their subsidiaries, had previously been established by the government on Thursday, April 9, 2020.

In his direction at the limited meeting, the Head of State asked the relevant staff to immediately make preparations regarding the policy.

“I request that preparations related to this be prepared,” the President said.

To note, the latest decision regarding the prohibition of going home is taken after the results of a number of studies and deepening in the field. Based on a survey conducted by the Ministry of Transportation, data obtained that there was 68 percent of respondents who decided not to go home in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic.

However, there is still 24 percent who insist to remain going home, and 7 percent who have gone home to their destination. “This means that there is still a very large number, which is 24 percent,” said the President. (Asm / ray / rail)
