Jakarta, TheIndonesiaPost – The task force team at the neighbourhood/hamlet (RT / RW) level was recognized by President Joko Widodo as the key to controlling the spread of the corona virus (Covid-19). According to him, the lowest community unit is the most effective effort to control the virus.
“The report that I received from the governors, both those who implemented the large scale social restriction (PSBB) and those who did not, concluded that the most effective way to control the spread of Covid was the lowest community unit,” Jokowi said when opening a limited meeting on the Acceleration of Pandemic Covid-19 handling through live broadcasts on YouTube account of the Presidential Secretariat, Monday (5/18).
“I ask all regional heads to strengthen the task force at the RT, RW or village level. In Bali, for example there is a culture/ adat village, this is very important, the key is here, the RT / RW task force, or the village or customary village,” he continued.
The Task Force for the Acceleration of Handling Covid-19 has long requested regional involvement at the provincial, district / city, urban, and RT / RW levels to control the distribution of corona.
While the Bali Provincial Government is also known to involve traditional villages to suppress the spread of corona. The customary village apparatus is believed to make the Balinese people obedient because there are values from their ancestors in dealing with the plague.
On the same occasion, Jokowi also wants puskesmas facilities to be strengthened to deal with the corona virus outbreak. At present there are 10,134 puskesmas throughout Indonesia. As many as 4 thousand of them are Puskesmas that have inpatient facilities.
“I ask for health facilities at the first level, namely Puskesmas to be strengthened, because we have 10,134 throughout the country and 4,000 of them are puskesmas with inpatient facilities,” Jokowi said. (ras/bbs)
