South Sumatra Legislative Council Chairperson Appreciates the Alertness in Handling Floods in Muba

Palembang, The Indonesia Post – The flood and overflowing Musi River disaster that occurred in Musi Banyuasin Regency (MUBA) has concerned many parties. One of them was the Chair of the South Sumatra Legislative Council (DPRD), Dr Hj RA Anita Noeringhati.

She expressed this during the 2024 Coordination Meeting (Rakor) of the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (FORKOPIMDA) of South Sumatra Province and Districts / Cities throughout South Sumatra with the theme “Synergy for South Sumatra Forkopimda in Handling Disasters, Preventing Inflation, Extreme Poverty, Stunting, Elections and 2024 Regional Election to Maintain South Sumatra Zero Conflict” at the Aston Hotel Palembang, Thursday (25/1/2024).

“The flood disaster in several areas in South Sumatra is very worrying. On this occasion I also appreciate the alertness of Forkopimda which is very quick to handle it and ease the burden on the affected residents,” she said.

She continued, this flood disaster is the collective responsibility of all parties to ease the burden on the affected residents.

“I also hope that the budget for flood management will be maximized properly,” said Anita.

Acting Governor of South Sumatra Dr Drs Agus Fatoni admitted that flood management must continue to be carried out, especially for residents affected by flooding. “Health posts and evacuation posts must continue to be alerted,” he said.

He added that the 2024 elections will soon be held, and all regions in South Sumatra must continue to maintain the conduciveness of their respective regions. “Maintain zero conflict in South Sumatra,” he stressed.

Chairman of the South Sumatra KPU, Andika Pranata Jaya, revealed that TPS (Polling Places) that had been designated and were affected by flooding would later be moved to locations that were not affected by flooding.

“The polling stations affected by the flood will later be moved so as not to make it difficult for voters to exercise their right to vote,” he said.

Meanwhile, Acting Regent of Musi Banyuasin (Muba) Apriyadi Mahmud admitted that currently flood management is continuing and inventory is being carried out to distribute aid to residents affected by the flood.

“Health posts and refugee camps continue to be empowered. “A team of health workers also went straight to the villages to check the health of residents affected by the flood,” said Apriyadi.

The former Head of Social Services for the South Sumatra Provincial Government also added that repairs to infrastructure affected by the flood had also been carried out in stages so as not to cause loss of life.

“For example, the national road in Bailangu Village which collapsed due to the overflowing Musi River has begun to be repaired, we hope that the flood will recede soon,” he concluded.
