ASEAN chairmanship deliverables coincide with G20 priorities: Minister

Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – The Priority Economic Deliverables (PEDs) of Indonesia’s ASEAN chairmanship coincide with the priorities of its 2022 G20 Presidency, according to Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati.

“The Priority Economic Deliverables covers transition finance, finance and health, infrastructure financing, food security, to the financial sector,” she explained in a post on her Instagram handle @smindrawati, which was accessed from here on Thursday.

Indonesia’s ASEAN PEDs also encompass the energy transition mechanisms, digital financial inclusion, and financial literacy for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

Indrawati conveyed the commitment to PEDs at the “Asian Development Bank Institute (ADBI) Session-Diving into ADB-ADBI Support for the G20” in Incheon, South Korea, on May 3, 2023.

The session, which was opened by ADBI CEO Tetsushi Sonobe, was held to welcome the G7 Hiroshima Summit, where all participants exchanged views on G20 and G7 cooperation to promote an inclusive and sustainable economy.

Indrawati had the opportunity to cover several topics regarding Indonesia’s 2023 ASEAN chairmanship and 2022 G20 Presidency.

She noted how Indonesia’s G20 Presidency focused on strengthening the global health system, energy transition, digital transformation, food security, and ways to continue Indonesia’s G20 achievements in India, which is hosting this year’s G20.

ADBI is a platform for the Asian Development Bank to help formulate effective strategies for the Asia and Pacific region.

Indrawati said she believes that resourceful partners such as ADB and ADBI are very important for policymakers at the national, regional, and global levels for formulating policies that are effective and efficient.

“I hope that cooperation between ADB, ADBI, G20, G7, and southern countries can continue to be strengthened,” she added.

Bank Indonesia and the Ministry of Finance held the ASEAN+3 Task Force meeting on February 2–3 in Bali and the ASEAN Finance and Central Bank Deputies Meeting – Working Group (AFCDM-WG) from February 6–10. (mhn/bbs)
