Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – Indonesian Minister of Health (Menkes) Budi Gunadi Sadikin said investment in the health sector is the main support for economic development in the ASEAN region.
“There are two important aspects of health investment that have the potential to shape the future, not only for Indonesia, but also for the entire ASEAN region,” said Budi Gunadi Sadikin in his statement in Jakarta, Tuesday.
The first aspect, said Budi, is an emphasis on the importance of investing in health for the community in welcoming Indonesia’s demographic bonus.
According to Budi, massive investment in the health sector can increase productivity and encourage gross domestic product (GDP) growth to its peak.
“In the long term, this will create a positive domino effect by increasing income for investors and the industry,” he said.
Budi believes that failure to take advantage of the huge demographic bonus opportunity could result in Indonesia continuing to remain in the status of a middle-income country.
“For this reason, public awareness to invest in the health of themselves, their families and society will have a significant impact on the nation’s economy,” Budi added.
The second aspect, said Budi, is the emphasis on investment in the health sector and identifying it as a potential turning point for scientific innovation for the development of human civilization.
“Indonesia is an attractive investment destination, referring to continued population growth which promises great opportunities in the health sector,” he said.
Budi said this growth was related to increased health spending and created a conducive environment for investors.
Budi also conveyed Indonesia’s firm commitment to advancing public health and investing in the health sector as a driver of national and global economic growth. (mhn/bbs)
