Palembang, The Indonesia Post – After last Thursday, the Chairperson of the Empowerment of Family Welfare (PKK) South Sumatra Feby Deru distributed hundreds of aid packages to the elderly in 4 social institutions, this time it was the turn of the Deputy Chairman 1 of the PKK South Sumatra Fauziah Mawardi Yahya to provide a package of assistance to the elderly at the Social Welfare Institution (LKS LU) Tifarana is located on Jalan Ki Merogan, Kertapati and LKS LU Pelangi Agung located at Jalan Abikusno Cokrosuyoso, Kertapati, Friday (19/06) afternoon.
In the two LU LKS, Fauziah Mawardi Yahya provided 15 packages of aid. Each package, in the form of the Al-Quran, masks, biscuits, milk, and sarong. Fauziah said the aid package was a sign of love for the elderly who needed more attention and care.
“We deliberately go to the elderly to meet and provide assistance, our packages may be less value but at the same time, this is a great opportunity to face to face with them. This way we can also find out what is needed by elderly social institutions or LKS LU”, she explained.
Fauziah added that the South Sumatra PKK together with the South Sumatra Social Service is designing a number of programs for the welfare of the elderly in South Sumatra.
Meanwhile, Chairperson of LKS LU Pelangi Agung, Radi Zuliani revealed that out of 175 elderly people in their development, only 45 elderly people received assistance from the government through the Ministry of Social Affairs.
“Today there are 15 people who get the aid package. Of course, we hope that the government pays more attention to them because there are only a few who get help while the elderly are classified as still capable of activities to fill their daily activities”, he said.
On that occasion, Radi Zuliani also expressed his appreciation for the attention and care given by the South Sumatra PKK to the elderly fostered. (ojan/rel)
