//Enacted from 1 August 2020
Jakarta, TheIndonesiaPost – Good news was conveyed by the Governor of South Sumatra H Herman Deru in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic as well as in the context of welcoming Indonesia’s independence day, the South Sumatra Provincial Government gave up the vehicle tax penalty.
“Yes, we will provide a tax fine. This will be implemented on August 1, 2020,” Herman Deru said, during an interview on Thursday (7/23) evening.
According to him, the abolition of the tax penalty is in force for several months and will continue to be evaluated.
“We will do this monthly for people who have been disrupted by the economy because of this covid-19. But of course, we will do an evaluation,” he explained.
He said this was done as a form of attention to the people whose economies were forced to decline due to the plague.
“This is for all the general public. It means we provide good tax amnesty for those who are indeed affected, negligence that causes our forgiveness to be late,” he said.
He explained, the initial step of abolishing the tax would be done for one month.
“Now it will take effect from 1 August to 1 September 2020. Later if it still has to be extended, then we will add more. We evaluate the results first,” he concluded. (ojn/rel)
