Herman Deru Invites People to Self-Reflect on the Islamic New Year

//End Work Visits in Five Districts

OKU TIMUR, The Indonesia Post – A number of working visits were made by the Governor of South Sumatra, H Herman Deru, in five districts in South Sumatra in the last few days. Even at the end of his working visit, HD took the time to visit East OKU Regency (Oku Timur), Sunday (23/8).

Where, a number of weekend activities began with the inauguration of the construction of the At Taqwa mosque in Kota Baru Village, Martapura District, East OKU Regency. The inauguration was marked by the signing of the inscription directly carried out by the number one person in South Sumatra.

On that occasion, Herman Deru also left a message for the community to continue to prosper the mosque by holding various religious activities.

“This requires the role of the community in the prosperity of this mosque. Increase religious activities so that it is useful and friendship becomes close,” said HD.

Not only that, HD also took the time to lay the groundwork for the construction of the Raudatul Athfal Office in the area of ​​the Ma’arif Umbul Arif Education Foundation, M Puncak Kabau Village, BP Bangsa Raja District and the first stone leveling for the construction of Al Quran Middle School and High School in Karang Melati Village, East Semendawai District East OKU Regency.

It is also known that in each of these places HD also took the time to attend recitation with the community in the framework of the Islamic New Year 1442 H.

“This Islamic New Year must be used as a new spirit. There are many lessons we can take from this new year,” he said.

In this Islamic New Year too, he continued, was used as a moment for introspection so that the future could be better.

“This new year should be the first step for us to make changes. Self-reflect and reflect on what we have done, are doing, and what we will do to make it much better than before,” he explained.

He also reminded that this new year was used as an encouragement to move forward. This includes encouragement in helping the government in its efforts to deal with Covid-19 in South Sumatra.

“This pandemic is also a test and must be addressed in a mature manner so that it does not affect our productivity. Our resilience against the pandemic has already been seen. Currently, the epidemic is sloping. That’s thanks to the solidarity of all levels of society in dealing with it,” he explained.

Accompanied by a member of Commission XI DPR RI Hj Percha Leanpuri and accompanied by the Regent of East OKU HM Khalid Mawardi, HD also asked the public not to forget the importance of health protocols.

“Discipline on health protocols has also been a driving force for the reduction of the spread of covid-19. I hope that mastarakt is disciplined to wear masks, keep your distance, and wash your hands to minimize the spread of the outbreak,” he concluded. (imf/rel)
