Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – The Coordinating Minister for Politics, Law and Security (Menkopolhukam) Mahfud MD reminded all parties of the dangers of ideological attacks related to acts of terrorism.
According to Mahfud, ideological threats are different from territorial threats. The reason is, territorial threats can be seen directly, while ideological threats are not.
“Territory (threats) are disturbances to the physical area, but ideological (threats) are disturbances to our spirit of unity, security and comfort within the framework of a common ideology,” he said at the JS Luwansa Hotel, Jakarta, Wednesday.
He said that ideological threats infiltrated quietly and could happen anywhere, so it would be very dangerous if we weren’t careful.
“Threats to ideology exist in various places, in the form of terrorism, it can be in villages, in cities, terrorism can appear and it is very dangerous,” he said.
Mahfud then highlighted the trend of terrorism attacks in Indonesia which had decreased. In 2018, there were 19 recorded terror attacks, then 11 times in 2019 and 2020, six times in 2021, and two times in 2022. (mhn/ril)
