Mahfud MD suggested that Lukas Enembe could account for the origin of his wealth to the authorities, including for example whether there is a share ownership in the Tolikara gold mining company.
“Yes, just explain. The law is easy if both are good and there is no political engineering,” he said.
He stated firmly that the investigation of Lukas Enembe on suspicion of corruption was a purely legal case so that it had nothing to do with the political situation leading up to the general election which is now being discussed by many parties.
He stated that the investigation of Lukas Enembe had nothing to do with criminalization efforts or political engineering aimed at cornering certain political party figures.
“It has nothing to do with the Democratic Party, the Golkar Party, the PDIP does not exist. Because he said the Democratic Party wants to be cornered. It doesn’t exist because two days earlier the Golkar figure, the Regent of Mimika, was also arrested and it is a political party affiliated with the government,” he said. after receiving the “Udayana Award” from Udayana University, Bali, because it is considered capable of consistently enforcing the law in the midst of society.
Mahfud MD stated that the action taken by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) was a legal matter that he had announced two years ago.

As previously reported, Lukas Enembe was entangled in the alleged criminal act of bribery and gratuities in the construction of a project sourced from the Papua Province APBD where Lukas Enembe was suspected of receiving gratuities worth Rp. 1 billion.
“When Luke Enembe was named a suspect, the existing evidence was a gratuity of Rp. 1 billion, then there was a mass mobilization that said that Lukas Enembe was criminalized because only Rp. 1 billion was named as a suspect,” said Mahfud.
Mahfud MD stated that the determination of Lukas Enembe as a suspect was not only related to corruption worth Rp. 1 billion. In fact, he said, until now the evidence related to the Lukas Enembe corruption case has reached more than Rp. 600 billion.
