Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – The Minister of Investment/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Bahlil Lahadalia invited students to become entrepreneurs and participate in reducing unemployment.
In front of around 1,700 students at Maranatha Christian University in Bandung, West Java, Thursday (12/1), Bahlil encouraged the younger generation to optimize the ease of access in gaining knowledge today.
“I ask younger siblings to have a broader view. Don’t just dream of becoming civil servants, employees, or the Indonesian National Police. But be entrepreneurs who are able to make a real contribution to creating jobs and reducing the unemployment rate in Indonesia. Indonesian universities are not allowed become a factory for intellectual unemployment,” said Bahlil Lahadalia in a statement in Jakarta, Friday.
Bahlil conveyed this while recounting his struggle to gain knowledge in Papua with all its limitations.
He encouraged the younger generation to participate in developing Indonesia by becoming entrepreneurs and encouraging the creation of jobs in the country.
“Currently there are 7 million unemployed in this country. The work force is only able to absorb 2.9 million workers each year. Therefore we must encourage private sector investment to create jobs,” said Bahlil Lahadalia.
On the same occasion the Chairman of the Red and White Taruna Maruarar Sirait stressed the importance of the great values instilled in today’s young generation.
He also invited the younger generation to build networks from an early age so they could open up opportunities in the future.
“If it’s okay for younger siblings to start joining organizations, whatever you want, go ahead, because networking is important. Whatever the background of religion, ethnicity, or race, we must be a generation that has the true spirit of Pancasila. If we become entrepreneurs, it’s better to lose money but still be trusted. , rather than making profits but deceiving people. Young people must think big and have good values instilled from an early age,” he said.
The Chancellor of Maranatha Christian University, Prof. Ir Sri Widiyantoro, hopes that the campus will be able to give birth to qualified people for the progress of the nation.
“On behalf of the Maranatha Christian University family, I am very grateful that you are willing to attend today. I hope that you will not give up on coming again to give new enthusiasm and energy not only to students but also to the lecturers and chancellors,” he said. (mhn/bbs)
