The Governor of West Java strengthens coordination to increase security related to robbery

Bandung, The Indonesia Post – West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil is strengthening coordination with stakeholders to improve security related to the recent rampant criminal acts of robbery that have occurred in a number of areas in West Java.

“I will continue to coordinate security in Depok, Bekasi, Pangandaran, Tasikmalaya and Garut which were busy (hijacking), including in Bandung,” said Ridwan Kamil in Bandung City, Friday.

Apart from that, Governor Ridwan Kamil also appealed to the people of West Java to revive night patrols and intensify the security guard system so that they can suppress crime.

Residents are also advised to report immediately if they see anything suspicious in their environment because order and security are not only the duty of the state, but the collective responsibility of the whole community.

“Diligently reporting, observing suspicious movements and so on. Security, order and cleanliness are not only the duty of the state. That is our collective duty. So hopefully siskamling will be a preventive solution,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Bandung City Government (Pemkot) has added street lights ranging from Public Street Lighting (PJU), Environmental Street Lighting (PJL), to surveillance cameras or CCTV to prevent acts of robbery.

Bandung Mayor Yana Mulyana said the Bandung City Government had prepared a budget of IDR 24 billion from the Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBD) to increase the number of these street lights.

“Because of the fact that the incident (crime) can be recorded on CCTV,” Yana said at the Bandung City Hall, West Java.

According to him, the placement of street lights and CCTV cameras was coordinated with all parties so that the placement was maximized. So according to him the placement is adjusted to the needs or vulnerabilities. (mhn/bbs)
