Jakarta, TheIndonesiaPost – The wheels of the economy in Indonesia are predicted not to recover in the near future. Life is predicted to return to ‘normal’ in June or July.
Economist Raden Pardede quoted from CNBCIndonesia.com has presented the timeline for economic recovery to the Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto. “That’s just your proposal,” he said.
The following are the stages of economic recovery based on a study conducted by the Ministry of Economy.
Phase 1 (June 1, 2020)
– Industry and Business to Business (B2B) services can operate with social distancing, health requirements, keep a distance (including wearing masks)
– Stores, markets, and malls may not yet operate except for mask shop and health facilities
– The full health sector operates by taking into account the capacity of the health system
– Other outdoor activities, forbidden to gather crowded (maximum 2 people in a room), not allowed outdoor sports
Phase 2 (June 8, 2020)
– Market shops and malls are allowed to open shops without sector discrimination (strict protocols). Covering work arrangements, serving customers, and not allowed to store in a crowded situation.
– Businesses with physical contact (salon, spa, etc.) may not operate
– Crowded gathering activities and outdoor sports are still not permitted.
Phase 3 (June 15, 2020)
– Market shops and malls remain in phase 2. However, there are evaluations for opening salons, spas, etc. with strict hygiene protocols.
– Cultural activities are allowed by keeping a distance. Examples of these cultural activities include opening a museum, performing in the absence of physical contact (selling tickets online), and maintaining distance.
– Educational activities in schools are permissible, but with a shift system according to the number of classes
– Outdoor sports are allowed with the protocol.
– Have already begun evaluating the opening of places for weddings, birthdays, social activities with a capacity of more than 2-10 people
Phase 4 (July 6, 2020)
– Opening of economic activities as in phase 3 with additional evaluations.
– The gradual opening of restaurants, cafes, bars, gyms, etc. with strict hygiene protocols
– Outdoor activities of more than 10 people
– Traveling out of town with restrictions on the number of flights
– Activities of worship (mosque, church, temple, monastery, etc.) may be carried out with a limited amount
– Activities of more than the scale mentioned are still limited
Phase 5 (July 20 and 27, 2020)
– Evaluation for Phase 4 and opening of large scale economic sites or other activities
– End of July / Early August is expected to open all economic activities, but still maintain strict hygiene and health protocols and standards
– Furthermore, a periodic evaluation will be carried out, until the vaccine can be found and disseminated. (ojan/bss)
