The President Will Provide Work Capital Assistance to 12 Million Micro and Small Enterprises in Indonesia

Jakarta, TheIndonesiaPost – A total of 60 micro and small business operators from a number of regions in DKI Jakarta and the Thousand Islands receive direct working capital assistance from President Joko Widodo. The delivery of aid took place in the central courtyard of the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta. (7/21).

The Head of State is very aware of the situation faced by these business actors in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic. The decline in trade turnover is often heard directly as a result of the spread of Covid-19, which in fact does not only have an impact on the health side, but also affects the economic sector both small and large.

“I know that maybe the current situation is not like the past situation, which usually earns a daily turnover of Rp. 600 (thousand) or 800 (thousand), now it’s only 200 (thousand) or maybe smaller than that. All felt and this not only happened to small businesses, middle businesses were also hit, big businesses were also hit, “the President said.

Therefore, the President hopes that the Rp2.4 million working capital assistance directly delivered by him can at least help alleviate the burden felt primarily by micro and small business entrepreneurs. The assistance will also soon be obtained by approximately 12 million micro and small businesses throughout Indonesia.

“This will also be given to 12 million micro and small businesses throughout Indonesia. But you all started. The content is indeed not much, but I think it can increase working capital, “he said.

In addition to easing the burden, the Head of State also hopes that the working capital assistance can make the business of aid recipients grow even though they have to survive in the midst of a pandemic. Therefore, the use of assistance must be used to finance their business.

“You should never use this additional working capital to buy a cellphone, or buy credit, be careful. I follow you. It must be really used for additional working capital, “he said.

One of the traders who attended received the assistance to thank President Joko Widodo. He also hopes that the assistance he has received can also be enjoyed by his professional colleagues as soon as possible.

“I represent the others, thank you very much for what you have given us and can also later be given to colleagues. May you be given a long life and all this time, what you have done is a blessing for all the people of Indonesia, “he said.

The delivery of working capital assistance was carried out in two sessions today as an effort to prevent too much crowds while maintaining a safe distance and complying with health protocols. The recipients of the aid have also gone through a health check before entering the Presidential Palace complex.

Accompanying the President in the event included Presidential Chief of Staff Moeldoko and Head of Presidential Secretariat Heru Budi Hartono. (rma / bbs)
