PALEMBANG, The Indonesia Post – Every opportunity, the Governor of South Sumatra H Herman Deru continues to remember the importance of health protocols. In fact, the number one person in South Sumatra has warned the public to continue wearing masks.
He conveyed this when attending the shadow puppet (wayang) all night long with the people of Desa Cipto Mudo Kecamatan Buay Madang Kabupaten OKU Timur, Saturday (22/8) night.
He said, implementing health protocol disciplines such as maintaining distance, wearing masks, and washing hands are very important to do in order to anticipate the transmission of Covid-19.
“For that we are important to implement health protocols, especially in crowded places like this. This is important so that we avoid the spread of Covid-19,” said HD.
According to him, covid-19 is a form of test. Even so, people are asked to be grateful. Because, even though the Covid-19 pandemic has not yet ended, the economy in Indonesia, especially South Sumatra, is still relatively stable.
“Currently there are 215 countries exposed to Covid-19. Singapore, which has been one of the countries with the best economic growth, is currently falling. We are grateful that the South Sumatra economy is still stable, even the South Sumatra economic growth is still the highest in Sumatra,” he said.
This, he continued, could not be separated from the serious efforts of the government, assisted by all parties, including the community, in handling the pandemic.
“We are making efforts to deal with the disease, but do not forget to protect the economy. Even development is not immediately stopped because of this epidemic. Development is still continuing,” he explained.
He further emphasized that the public must make this pandemic a leap forward.
“Make this a leap forward to develop the region. A pandemic is not an excuse for us to fall down,” he concluded. (ojn/rel)
