Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartato supports the role of Business 20 (B20) in promoting inclusive and sustainable investment to support projects that are in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by bringing investment opportunities to global partners.
The government is also trying to expand investment opportunities through the construction of a number of National Strategic Projects (PSN) in various regions to spur regional economic growth, create jobs for local communities, and overcome economic inequality between regions.
“Global challenges can be overcome effectively through multilateral platforms, for that I support strengthening multilateral mechanisms, especially if it is directed to encourage the business climate by reducing export and import barriers,” said Airlangga Hartarto in an official statement in Jakarta, Saturday.
As a form of strengthening the multilateral mechanism, the government supports the results of the 12th WTO Ministerial Conference, also known as the Geneva Package, in order to produce various concrete proposals for the trade sector in facing various current global challenges.
In addition, he said, other efforts were also made by the government by maintaining global supply chains, implementing relevant and inclusive trade regulations, and maintaining the availability and affordability of food prices, which were carried out through a number of policies.
Furthermore, the government also continues to consistently accelerate the downstreaming of commodities in order to encourage an increase in the added value of raw materials and maintain manufacturing production at an expansive level.
The downstream acceleration is also driven by regulatory reforms related to business licenses through the establishment of an omnibus law that makes 80 regulations effective for the trade, industry, investment and manpower sectors, making it easier for business actors to carry out business activities.
“This determination is our step to reform the structure of the Indonesian economy, especially in the investment sector and encourage ease of doing business in Indonesia,” said Airlangga. (mhn/bbs)
