Gresik, The Indonesia Post – The chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, asked the cooking oil company PT Wilmar Nabati Indonesia (WINA) in Gresik Regency, East Java, to increase its production, to prevent panic buying in the community.
Puan, during her working visit to the PT Wilmar factory located on Jalan Captain Darmo Sugondo, Gresik Regency, Wednesday, immediately asked Wilmar about this and why there was a shortage of cooking oil in the market.
The Business Unit Head of PT Wilmar Nabati Indonesia, Ridwan Brandes, said that currently many micro to medium scale cooking oil producers are out of business, due to not being able to buy raw materials which has increased. This causes the national cooking oil production to fluctuate.
“To the Chairwoman of the Indonesian House of Representatives, we conveyed that currently there is still panic buying in the market so that as soon as oil arrives, it is immediately purchased. This condition must be found a solution so that people do not buy oil in large quantities to be stored, “he said.
Ridwan ensured that the production of cooking oil at PT Wilmar was still normal, and there was no turmoil.
“We told her that production is currently running normally. The Chairperson of the Indonesian House of Representatives promised to give us full support,” Ridwan said when met by reporters.
In fact, welcoming the coming of fasting and Eid, PT Wilmar has also prepared a number of strategies to secure production. Starting from ordering CPO, raw materials, supporting materials to packaging since long ago.
“We have prepared thoroughly from upstream to downstream. Even before this fast, our production reaches 1,700 tons per day,” he said, asserting.
While on her visit to PT Wilmar, Puan Maharani went around the company and inspected the consumer pack (CPC) facilities. (mhn/bbs)
