Coordinating Minister Airlangga: The Pre-Employment Card has a positive impact on the community

Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto said the pre-employment card program had a positive impact in terms of entrepreneurial competence, the financial industry, financial security, and food management for the recipients.

According to him, the impact of the pre-employment card was obtained from the results of independent research conducted by Presisi Indonesia which was funded by the Japanese Government, UNDP (United Nations Development Programme), and the Melinda and Bill Gates Foundation.

“We know that the pre-employment card program is a campaign promise program by President Joko Widodo that has been successful for the Ministry of Economy to coordinate the program. The President wants training and up-skills for millions of the workforce, especially now that we are facing two disruptions, namely the pandemic and the industrial revolution 4.0 or digital transformation,” said Airlangga during the Pre-Employment Card Impact Evaluation webinar in Jakarta, Wednesday.

Furthermore, Airlangga added that since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, the government has refocused the pre-employment card program so that it does not only provide training to the community but also distributes social assistance.

In 2020, the government will disburse IDR 20 trillion for this program, IDR 21 trillion in 2021, and for 2022 the budgeted funds will reach IDR 11 trillion.

“The pre-employment card is a public service innovation to distribute massive aid to all Indonesian people, from Sabang to Merauke from Miangas to Rote Island. This is done with government innovations that implement an end-to-end digital system with a cloud-based system, so the Ministry of Finance will direct sending assistance to each participant’s e-wallet,” said Airlangga.

According to Airlangga, currently the government needs more private business actors and the general public to participate in the development of the pre-employment card program. While the government on regulations, standard procedures, and implementation of this program.

“The government must provide an opportunity to innovate this program so that the service level will increase and more people will enjoy it,” he added. (ojn/bbs)
