Khofifah: Gontor Islamic Boarding School contributes to building quality human resources

Ngawi, The Indonesia Post – The Governor of East Java (Jatim) Khofifah Indar Parawansa assessed that Pondok Modern Darussalam Gontor Putri Campus 1 in Ngawi Regency had contributed to building civilization and improving Human Resources (HR).

“Education developed by Pondok Gontor continues to have an impact on increasing the Human Development Index (HDI). In fact, education in Gontor is an important part in building civilization and humanity,” said Governor Khofifah while attending the 100th Anniversary (1 Century) of Pondok Modern Darussalam Gontor in Ngawi, Thursday.

According to Khofifah, Pondok Gontor’s century-long journey has made a major contribution to the lives of the people of the nation, country and world.

For this reason, she specifically advised that in the future the education carried out at Pondok Gontor should be in line with the format of humanizing humans, maintaining the honor and dignity of the whole human being.

“This is one of the challenges of how humanitarian civilization must be fortified by all strategic elements, especially those based on Islamic boarding schools,” said Khofifah.

She further conveyed how important the role of all lines, including within Pondok Gontor, is in giving color to Islamic civilization along with digitalization.

So far Governor Khofifah has also made efforts to strengthen East Java’s human resources by strengthening Islamic boarding schools, one of which is providing scholarships for East Java students to the Al Azhar campus in Egypt. “God willing, in two years, East Java will have at least 80 Islamic boarding school-based doctors from East Java Provincial Government scholarships,” she said.

According to Khofifah, Pondok Modern Darussalam Gontor also plays a big role in educating the nation’s life. “This will be a center of excellence for Islamic boarding schools by modernizing the curriculum to be able to instill Islamic boarding schools in various disciplines in various other Islamic boarding schools throughout Indonesia,” she added.
