Members of the House of Representatives: Don’t be selective in fighting the cooking oil mafia

Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – Member of Commission III of the House of Representatives (DPR RI) Didik Mukrianto asked the Attorney General’s Office not to be selective in eradicating the cooking oil mafia, so that strict action must be taken against anyone involved, including at the ministerial level.

“It’s not just at the director general level, if there is a real violation in the bureaucratic circle of the Ministry of Trade (Kemendag) then strict action must be taken and the applicable law, including the minister, is no exception,” said Didik in Jakarta, Wednesday.

He said all parties involved and being part of the cooking oil mafia that made it difficult for the community had to be completely dismantled.

According to him, it doesn’t make sense “there are dead rats in the rice barn” and how could Indonesia as the largest producer of CPO experience a shortage of cooking oil if it wasn’t manipulated by the mafia.

“It’s very tragic, even the President was furious at the Minister of Trade who couldn’t solve it. This cooking oil mafia must be stopped immediately, eradicated to the very root,” he said.

Didik supports any ongoing law enforcement efforts, especially involving state officials suspected of abusing their position and authority against the law.

According to him, ethically and morally, if state officials see that people are in trouble and need help, they should prioritize the interests of the community first.

“Seeing the recent moral hazard related to cooking oil which has made people face a scarcity of cooking oil and a difficult situation, law enforcement cannot be selective, it cannot be indiscriminate,” he said.

Didik said that law enforcement officers need to take firm and measurable action for a deterrent effect in order to protect the public from the moral hazard activities of the mafia-mafia and unscrupulous elements.

Previously, the Attorney General’s Office named four suspects in the alleged case of granting export permit facilities for crude palm oil (CPO) and its derivatives, including cooking oil, from January 2021 to March 2022 which caused a shortage of cooking oil.

The four suspects are the Director General of Foreign Trade of the Ministry of Trade (Dirjen Perdaglu of the Ministry of Trade) Indrasari Wisnu Wardhana (IWW), Stanley MA (SMA) as Senior Manager of Corporate Affairs of Permata Hijau Group, Master Parulian Tumanggor (MPT) as Commissioner of PT Wilmar Nabati Indonesia, and Picare Togar Sitanggang (PT) as General Manager of General Affairs of PT Musim Mas.
