Sahroni appreciates the Attorney General’s Office for revealing the cooking oil mafia

Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – Deputy Chairman of Commission III of the House of Representatives (DPR RI), Ahmad Sahroni, appreciated the AGO’s step in revealing the cooking oil mafia, which was the cause of the scarcity and high price of these basic necessities.

“I express my highest appreciation to the Attorney General and all of his staff who have clearly revealed who is behind the recent scarcity and expensiveness of cooking oil,” said Sahroni in a statement in Jakarta, Tuesday.

He said it was very sad and sad, because it turns out that the perpetrators of the shortage of cooking oil are people in the Ministry of Trade (Kemendag) whose actions actually harm the people.

According to him, with the disclosure of the case, it could serve as a warning to other cooking oil mafias not to do the same.

“We know who the cooking oil mafia is who is very detrimental to the people. Hopefully this will serve as a warning to other mafias to hurry to repent, and hopefully the price of cooking oil can return to normal soon,” he said.

Previously, the Attorney General’s Office named four suspects in the alleged case of granting export permit facilities for “crude palm oil” (CPO) and its derivatives, including cooking oil, in January 2021 to March 2022 which caused a shortage of cooking oil.

The four suspects are the Director General of Foreign Trade of the Ministry of Trade (Dirjen Perdaglu of the Ministry of Trade) Indrasari Wisnu Wardhana (IWW), Stanley MA (SMA) as Senior Manager of Corporate Affairs of Permata Hijau Group, Master Parulian Tumanggor (MPT) as Commissioner of PT Wilmar Nabati Indonesia, and Picare Togar Sitanggang (PT) as General Manager of General Affairs of PT Musim Mas.

This case involves an official at the Ministry of Trade, as the Director General of Perdaglu. IWW is a suspect for having issued export approvals related to CPO commodities and its derivative products to Permata Hijau Group, PT Wilmar Nabati Indonesia, PT Multimas Nabati Asahan, and PT Musim Mas.

After the suspects were identified, the four suspects were detained in different places.

IWW and MPT were detained at the Salemba Detention Center of the Attorney General’s Office for 20 days, starting from 19 April 2022-8 May 2022.

The high school and university suspects were detained at the Salemba Detention Center of the South Jakarta District Attorney’s Office for 20 days, which also started from April 19, 2022 to May 8, 2022. (mhn/bbs)
